Sunday Dives

It looks like Sunday turned out to be a windy day for the north side but didn't damper the spirits of some divers. Paul, Gerald, Miles, Brett, and a visitor from away(sorry I don't have her name) did a dive under the Pinette bridge and did another dive at Point Prim. They say both dives where very good. Gerald and Paul sent a couple of pics.

Also some have been asking if we should have a face to face meeting to see if we are on the right track or if anyone has any suggestions to make our club better for all divers. The site seems to be doing well with lots of hits. Please feel free to leave a comment at any time if you have a suggestion.

Thanks

Recreational Scallop Diving

Miles has been working on trying to get approved, scallop licences for recreational divers around PEI. This would be the same licence divers from NS and NB can purchase for a fee of 10-15 dollars and be aloud to take 50 scallops a day per diver. He has been in contact with Pat Binns and he thinks it is a good idea seeing other provinces already have it approved. What he wants from us is a list of names from divers around the island that are for this type of licence. So, we are asking if you are interested on adding your name to the list please leave a post and say you are infavor or not, and if so we will add it to the list. Miles would like to get this list in as soon as possible.

Thanks

Wreck Hunt Was Successful

It was great to see some new faces at the most recent dive for the PEI Dive Club. The dive was planned by Paul and Gerald.(great work guys) And was joined by Pierre, Dave, and his son. The dive took place in Savage Harbour on Sunday July 9th in search of the wreck of the George N. Orr. With intense research and planning the wreck was found a short distance from shore. Gerald says the ship is a steel hull ship and is still in pretty good shape. He says the site is great for the beginner diver and the snorkeler to have a look at one of many ship wrecks that scatter along the coasts of PEI. Everyone had a great day and also had a BBQ on the beach with their families and friends. Great job to all who took in the great day.
If anyone has any questions about the dive or is planning another dive please leave a post. this will be the 4th dive for the PEI Dive Club so lets keep up the great work.

Shore dives are hard work
Treasure
Pauls ready to hit the water.
Thanks again to Gerald and Paul for the pics and organizing the dive.

If anyone has been doing any diving please leave a post to let us all know how it went. The more people that post the more interest we will have in diving around the island. Also if anyone has any ideas on dives the would like todo let me know and well try to organize it.

Great Find

Gerald found this item at the armories the other weekend and thought it might be a old anode off a boat, but when he cleaned it up it was a old brass light off a boat. Nice find Gerald.
